Thoughts on the World

This year has really taken it out of me. I have not been following my own advice to turn off the news. I feel for those handling natural and man made disasters and it’s important to me to be informed about what’s happening. But I’m exhausted. Now I think about it, the automatic news notifications on my phone have taken it too far. So I’m going to go to settings and turn them all off.

I know I am a much happier person when I limit the amount of news I watch. Ever know something is good for you but don’t get around to it?! #recalculating

This is a time of year I love. Christmas music!! Decorations. Celebration and reflection of all we’ve accomplished through the year and time with loved ones near and far. So here’s to less news and more connection.

**Would love to see you and your peeps on December 2nd at my NYC holiday concert!**

Fitting In, #Recalculating and Having Fun

Ever wonder if it is worth it? You give it your all, do the right thing, be there no matter what, and still it doesn’t seem like enough.

I deal with these thoughts, still, from time to time, and recently had a painful experience feeling like I didn’t fit in with the ‘cool kids’. Fitting in, for most of us, brings back experiences from our childhood and wanting to feel included.  After many years of awareness and personal development I thought I had this one handled, but it came right back up again.

Why am I telling you this?  Because even as fully grown adults, when things are going along swimmingly – BAM – out of nowhere we can get hooked by someone or something and let doubt about ourselves creep in; at home, at the office or with a client.

I meet a lot of people in my travels when I am speaking about Recalculating and dealing with change, and coming off stage, every single time, there are moving conversations.  Courageous people remind me again and again we are all human beings dealing with similar concerns and worries.

We all want the same basics; to be loved, to be heard, to be safe, to feel as if we matter.
There have been a few experiences in my life recently to point out just how precious our time is.  Dear friends dealing with major health challenges, let alone the state of the world, have me well aware I must continue to take excellent care of myself and my family. And I must remember to have fun!

Here in Hell’s Kitchen, we are going to see live theatre (so blessed to have Broadway at our front door), playing ping pong, cooking together and eating on our roof deck.

What are you doing for fun?

Recalculate Your Health

Recalculate Your Health

Over the last few years I have become very interested in how to be healthier and happier. It started when I discovered how toxic the products are in most of our homes.  The cleaning products, our laundry detergent, deodorant, make-up, lotions and soaps let alone the food we consume.

I started to watch documentaries on Netflix, like Forks Over Knives, and Hungry for Change. One night my husband  turned to me and said “why don’t we give this a go” and I said “What? Be Vegan??”

My reaction was not unusual; “what will we eat?” and “where will we get our protein?”

Fast forward 4 years and I have loved following a plant based lifestyle, enjoying more energy, seamless digestion and clarity of thinking than I thought possible.

I have learned a heck of a lot along the way and now it is time to share the good news on the simple steps to feeling better one day at a time.

For great, free information and tips on being healthier and happier, join the FB group Gina Carr and I created by visiting http://www.thehealthyhappyhour.com

Step One:  Read the labels on every product in your home and especially anything you put on your body.

Step Two:  Replace with a non-toxic alternative, and yes I can point you in the right direction to everything I use myself.

Step Three:  Visit http://www.karenjacobsen.arbonne.com or be in touch with me directly to set you up with excellent prices on pure, high quality products.

It Is Never Too Late To Recalculate xoxo

IT STARTS WITH ME:

IT STARTS WITH ME:

IT STARTS WITH ME:

It really does.

It starts with me.

It starts with you.

It starts when you are willing to take a courageous step into the unknown. To follow what you know is right.

For yourself.

For others.

For the planet.

One little step in the direction you had told yourself you aren’t allowed to dream about any more.

What is one tiny action you can take, today, in this moment, toward exactly how you would love it to be?

Noise

NOISE:

The worry.

The to do list.

The shoulds.

They are all noise.

The expectations.

The overcommitments.

Your lack of energy.

Noise. Noise. Noise.

You know what is important.

You know what there is to do.

Refuse to engage with the noise in your life and get back to what really counts.

You Are In Better Shape Than You Think

We are so hard on ourselves. Critical. Judgmental.

Never ever ever ever good enough.

Even when we have managed our way through another day, dressed ourselves, fed ourselves, made it from a to b and back again, kept it together enough to be considered a functioning human being, maybe even sharing a kind word or two along the way.

And yet, it is never ever ever ever enough.

You are in much better shape than you are giving yourself credit for.

Even on the bad days.

Give yourself a break.

Keeping Your Cool

You have not had enough sleep.

There is a deadline.

A delay was just announced.

Life happens and it can take everything we have got not to lose it.

How do you keep your cool?

Or do you just take it out on whoever is right in front of you?

We can have the best of intentions but when the rubber meets the road, can we keep it together?

Keeping your cool is the ultimate in cool.

Breaking New Ground

Perhaps no one has done it the way you want to.

There is no path.

No road map.

No guarantee.

Take a step anyway.

You are the one who has had this fantastic idea so it must be in you to bring it to life.

Daydream

Let your mind drift away. To happy memories. To how you would love it to be in the future. To what you are grateful for.

Daydreaming is one of the healthiest pastimes imaginable.

The more we feel good, the more we feel good, and daydreaming feels really good.

If you daydream often, you might just allow yourself to get closer to knowing exactly what you want, and how to make a plan to get there.

Ease

There is a time for hard work; a time for dedicated, concentrated effort.

But does it feel like a struggle more of the time than not?

Easy does it.

Notice how you are approaching something you aren’t that excited about doing. Do you add a big weight to it? Are you adding unnecessary drama?

Ease is truly possible.

Ease and flow as if it is the natural way of things.

Ease, the greatest of ease, is available to you anytime.
