It May Not Be As Scary As You Think

Have you wanted to take a leap?

Make a change?

Do something you may even know you really want to do but it is super scary?

Then you take that step and – wow – the sun is still shining, the trees are still standing and you made it to the other side.

Only now, you know yourself as someone who can face those small and big fears.

You know yourself as a person with courage.

You may find that step was not as scary as you thought it might be.

Sometimes it is not even the big things that seem like a big deal.

Giving challenging news, apologizing or finding out at your annual physical you need to get a shot might all bring a sense of dread.

Until we get on with it.

And remember, it may not actually be as scary as you think.

The Path

It can seem like life is a random, uncertain series of disconnected events taking us to an unknown destination.

Or it can seem like a divinely guided, wow-that-was-meant-to-be and who-could-ever-have- imagined-it-would-turn-out-this-way ride.

The path ahead is brimming –

With opportunity.
With beauty.
With adventure.

If I had a magic wand, I would ask you what you REALLY want.

Then I would listen intently while you thought about it, told me “I don’t know,” then thought about it a little longer and answered with something tangible.

The path is waiting.

You are the one who gets to walk it your way.

Time

The one resource we cannot replenish.

We can feel like we do not have enough of it, we are racing against it or beaten by it.

Time really can be our friend.

When we relate to the time we have as precious:

We make different choices.
We see what is important.
We become aware of what matters most.

We have a lot of time until we don’t.

You are the one who gets to decide what you do with it.

Doing What You Say You Are Going To Do

We say we are going to “call you later.”

We say we will “see you soon.”

We say we will “take care of it.”

Somewhere between those words falling unintentionally out of our mouths and the end of time we don’t actually follow through.

These little comments may seem innocent. They are just what we say without thinking and they don’t really matter.
Do they?

Every time we do not follow through with something we say we are going to do, we chip away at our relationship with ourselves. We diminish our ability to trust ourselves.

Do what you say you are going to do.

And if you know you are not going to do it after all, just let that person know.

Putting Yourself Out There

If we truly put ourselves out there in an arms-and-heart-wide-open do-whatever-it takes kind of way:

People might laugh at us.

People might think we are pushy, ambitious, full on.

People might be offended.

If we keep our true desires some kind of secret we never share:

Nothing. happens.

If we go with option a and put ourselves out there:

We might be surprised at how much joy it brings to people.

We might be amazed at how much respect we receive from people.

We might be overjoyed by how much more connected we are with people.

Out there is where it is at. What are you doing in here?

Owning It

You have done some pretty incredible things in your time.

I know you have.

Now and then someone will notice one of your accomplishments and give you a compliment or pat you on the back.

Every. Single. Time this happens – own it.

Even if you don’t think it was a big deal.

Even if it seemed to come easily and you did not feel as if you had to work hard enough for it.

Even if it feels embarrassing.

Say thank you.

And then be quiet.

There is no need to explain it, justify it, diminish it.

Just own it.

No One Will Know

No one will know but you, how hard you have worked.

No one will know the way you tossed and turned over the big decisions, gave more than you thought you could or beat yourself up over something you said but didn’t really mean.

No one will know that in the deepest part of your heart you want to always do your best but sometimes just cannot find your way through to work out how.

And no one will give you the credit you deserve for all you have overcome, accomplished and created to be standing in this moment in time.

No one.

No one will know but you.

Bright Light

When you walk into a room, do you bring with you uplifting energy? Or do you drag everything down?

Really.

Take a moment to check which one happens most often.

We want to feel good. That’s the bottom line.

Everything we do, we do because we think it will make us feel good:

– eating the donut
– buying the outfit
– dreaming of a million dollar windfall

… all because we think it will make us feel good.

What if you could choose to bring bright and happy energy into every space you enter?

Every moment.

You can.

You can be the bright light.

What’s In the Way

You know what you want.

You know what you are supposed to do.

You know it is just a matter of starting.

But it feels like a huge effort to even begin.

Is something in the way?

Might you be scared of not doing it right?

Or even scared of doing it so well it skyrockets you into the ether?

What to do when there is something in the way…

We can spend a whole lot of time and energy analyzing, trying to get to the bottom of it, working to unravel and understand it.

But really, who cares?

With all the love in the world I say just get on with it.

Action is a great cure for not knowing how.

Take that step. Make that call. Give yourself a gentle push and act.

While you are in the process of doing, you will figure it out. There will be people to ask and answers will arise.

It is time to bust through it.

Flexibility

Can you roll with it baby?

Or does a change throw you for a loop?

Being flexible, especially when tempers are flaring and deadlines are looming can be a godsend.

Easy to work with.

Comfortable to talk to.

Ready to jump in when needed.

Do these describe you or not even close?

Flexible is fabulously attractive – and such a considerate way to be.
