Justify

All day long we justify why, what and how.

We can justify ourselves into it.

We can justify ourselves out of it.

If we aren’t paying attention, our lives can become one big stream of justification.

Reasons to make ourselves feel okay about our decisions. The decisions we made because we listened to others instead of our Inner GPS.

The real you, the you that knows what is best for you will not steer you wrong.

Let it do its job. Go with what you know is right for your highest good.

Fitting In

Being part of the in crowd.

Feeling like one of the cool kids.

Belonging.

The great dilemma of a lifetime.

We try so so so hard to be liked. To be loved. To be part of the scene.

It changes like shifting sands.

It is exhausting to keep up.

It is a lot of work to win an un-win-able game.

Just blazing our own trail sounds oh so good, so freeing, so do-able.

But it does not seem easy.

We all want to be loved.

To be accepted.

To be wanted.

What if we started with fitting in to our own skin, and felt unshakably good about our own selves?

Not that is the kind of fitting in I can count on.

Something To Look Forward To

At all times have something in your future you are looking forward to.

Anticipating.

Working toward.

Excited about.

You know the feeling when you finally actually book a vacation and the tickets are confirmed and you know it is on your calendar? Isn’t it a completely different experience from just thinking about it or talking about it?

When it is really happening, we start to allow ourselves to feel really good about it.

We can do this in big and small ways all. the. time.

Some of us look forward to the holidays throughout the whole year. Or celebrating someone’s birthday. Or you might simply be looking forward to the weekend.

Going to see a brand new movie. Saving to buy a home. Preparing a special dinner. Sleeping in. Booking your next vacation. Put them on your calendar and let the good feelings fuel your experience of yourself and the life you are creating.

Your future is waiting.

What If You Were Already There

You know there is no “there” right?

No actual place to arrive in our lives where we have ‘made it.’

There is always always always more. More to achieve, another mountain to climb, the next level to get to.

Our mind will chime in and remind us that even though we have accomplished something truly wonderful, we are still not as good as all of those others who have achieved more and made it look so easy in the process.

What if you could create a definition for yourself of what “there” would really be.

A place to arrive within yourself that would hold meaning and signify achievement:

Making deliberate moves toward the life you are excited to create.

Nourishing your mind and body on a regular basis with uplifting material and making healthy choices.

Reflecting on your day and being able to feel great about how you spent your time.

And regardless of any specific additional actions, how would it be if in this exact moment you decided you were already there- and that you were allowed to feel totally fantastic about it?

Deep. Sigh.

Take the feeling of already there-ness and head out into this amazing gift of time having already arrived.

Commitment To Something

You are committed.

Really.

Even if you think you are not.

Take a look around your life and the results of what you are committed to are right there. You could be:

Committed to doing whatever you want whenever you want.

Committed to people leaving you alone.

Committed to being right.

Or maybe:

Committed to making a difference.

Committed to being loving even when you don’t feel like being loving

Committed to doing the best you can.

Our actions are a direct result of our commitment. It may seem like our actions are just the things we do to get us through the day, but we have an absolute say in what those actions will be.

If we do not consciously and intentionally commit ourselves to what we want, life will show up and we will live as reactors.

Yes, I know there are times when it feels like life is happening to us and we have absolutely no say in it; but we always have a say in what we think and do. Especially once the dust settles.

Pour all your love and energy in a direction you have chosen for yourself. And if that seems like it is way too much work, decide on one small priority for today.

Perhaps to feel good.

Perhaps to feel even a little bit better than yesterday.

But please, commit to something.

Complicated

It is isn’t it?

Life.

Complicated.

As we become grown ups it is not always black and white.

The beliefs we thought we would always believe.

The dreams we used to allow ourselves to have.

The people we never imagined we couldn’t count on.

The shifting sands of time passing can be unsettling at best, to downright disorienting.

There are times when we are left wondering what, if anything, is certain.

You are not alone in your wondering.

We are all wondering along with you.

We are just doing it at varying times and at varying levels through our uncertain, complicated lives.

Even in those moments when it seems like it cannot possibly be true, know we are all in the middle of our own version of complication.

Totally Taken Care Of

Wouldn’t it be other worldly to always feel this way? To feel we are being totally taken care of.

No matter what the day brings.

No matter how many disappointments we experience.

No matter which words we hear and focus on that may drag us down.

You are being totally taken care of.

When the doors you thought would open do not, you are being totally taken care of.

Say this to yourself often. Every time you can remember.

“I am being totally taken care of.”

Perhaps it will take a boatload of time to start really believing it, but until then it is going to feel a whole heck of a lot better to consider you are being taken care of, than the alternative.

Life is on your side.

And so am I.

Giving Your All

Sometimes it seems like all we do is give and give and give.

We can hardly believe how little is coming back in return for all the effort and energy and heartache we are putting into every little thing.

When it seems like we have nothing left to offer, there is always more.

How is your experience of giving your all?

Is it a drain?

Are you left depleted?

Or can you begin each day renewed and ready to give with all the love in your heart?

Giving your all offers a portal to living a brilliantly fulfilling life.

Giving your all is a not a sometimes, maybe kind of thing.

Giving your all always can be a beautiful, uplifting and effortless way of life.

“You mean – I don’t have to suffer to Give. My. All?”

You don’t.

Just give. And love it.

Make this a cornerstone of the foundation of your life and get ready.

For giving your all equals receiving your all.

When You Decide

When you decide, it begins.

When you decide, your entire world shifts.

When you decide, it is as if the results from the decision you have made are drawing themselves into your magnetic field.

The space between wanting and deciding can seem like a great vast chasm.

And in the blink of an eye, it can close tight.

When we are at one with our desire and our knowing, we can expect absolute miracles.

Then why can it seem so elusive, so distant, so mysterious?

If I knew the answer to that question I promise I would tell you.

Allow yourself to want what you really want.

Decide it is time for you to receive it.

Now go out and have the very best day you have ever had.

You Only Have To Be Yourself

I have known this for a long time but it hit me again as if it was the first time I heard it.

No need to pretend I am something I am not.

Just focus on my strengths.

Be who I am.

…and then I look around at how fabulous other people are and observe there is always someone “more.” More successful, more generous, more brilliant, more thoughtful, more beautiful, more wealthy.

Deep sigh.

Bringing my attention back to the here and now is the pathway to my absolute self.

When you want to tell someone how important they are to you: you only have to be yourself.

When you are doing something brand new and you are scared out of your wits: you only have to be yourself.

When you need to deliver difficult news: you only have to be yourself.

Every moment of every day.

Whomever you are with.

You only have to be yourself.
