More About the Recording Process
Recorded at Defy Recording with Robert L. Smith in New York City, Karen found being in the studio at the height of the New York summer appropriate given that her Christmases as a child were during the Australian summer.
The record has been a long time coming. “I sang in choirs and vocal groups all throughout my schooling, and would spend six weeks every holiday season singing carols in shopping centers and at events, sometimes seven days a week. This is the realization of a lifelong desire to record my own tribute to the Christmas season.”
Tracks include upbeat originals; the infectious The Day After Christmas Day and Mrs C., a cruise-y samba version of Santa Baby, and a stirring rendition of Let There Be Peace On Earth. “This song was my school song, and I could imagine it being the International Anthem.” Baby’s 1st Christmas (Snowflake) is a lullaby-esque original.
