In 2005 Karen Jacobsen sponsored a little girl named Edina who lives in Zambia, Africa. Karen started to encourage everyone she knew to also sponsor a child and before long 67 children were sponsored, the To Zambia With Love group had formed and fundraisers were held in New York City at the Zambian Consulate.
When Karen clicked on Edina’s profile on the Children International website, she felt an immediate responsibility for her and a desire to travel to meet her in person. This documentary film by Lisa Rezac and Trish Dalton shows part of Karen’s experience travelling to Africa in 2006 with other members of “To Zambia With Love” Tom Hudak and Neil Gordon as they meet their sponsored children and create activities for them including reading, art and yoga classes.
Karen performed a concert at the community centre in Lusaka for the children and families including the song “Edina” she wrote especially in honour of her sponsored child. Special thanks to Yamaha for donating a keyboard for the concert to leave with the centre.
